Film studies

in English, we are learning to think critically to identify and describe the key aspects of a visual text.
we watched the movie 'hunt for the wilder people', and now we are doing our own learning on it. we were given 4 'must do' tasks, and 8 'can do' tasks, and i personally have done 2 must do tasks and 4 can do tasks. the can-do tasks include research and questions about Aunt Bella, Officer Andy, Psycho Sam, and Ricky Baker. The must-do tasks include film techniques, and one theme, the theme i chose being Symbols. The only must-do task i am yet to complete is 'critical thinking for film study', basically a bunch of questions about film study and all that, sounds simple, but it really isn't, some questions are pretty hard to answer. Once that is complete, all of 9bu, myself included, will have to write an essay, which i'm ready and prepared for. I personally have enjoyed this topic so far, and i'm ready for what will happen next in English.

  1. Symbols are important in stage plays too, especially abstract or poliical plays. You will notice the acting style in films is quite different from stage acting, for example in Musicals or Shakespeare. All actors do need to create the truth of their role taught [look up Stanislavsky's Questions - and do Mr Taylors work sheet for Bugsy prep.

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
