In English, we have been doing learning from a country of our choice, and my pick: Scotland! I chose Scotland as it is a sort of "country of origin" in my life, as much of my descent is from Scotland. the tale I've read is titled "The Death Bree", by author Jeremiah Curtin. I decided to do a story map about the story, which I'll show below:
What was the purpose of the text: I believe it was to show that good always comes to those who follow rules and instructions.
why do you think the author wrote the story: To teach a life lesson.
what is the author trying to explain: That listening to those around us can do us good.
what did the characters learn: The bree learned that the woman could be trusted, and the woman learned that the rumours she heard were true.
why do you think the story came into existence: to teach a life lesson.
what did i learn about scotland from reading the story: that they believed that skulls helped cure diseases.
I found this story to be interesting, and i liked reading it.
